Uganda
The Republic of Uganda has a population of 28.9 million people from a wide range of ethnic groups and cultures. Following their independence from British rule in 1962, Uganda faced dark time under the regime of Idi Amin (1971 to 1979) and Milton Obote (1980 to 1985). Since 1986 Uganda has experienced relative stability and economic growth.
North Rukiga ADP was established in 2003. The many farmers in the area are benefiting from training in sustainable farming practices and improved seeds. The community has recognised the importance of education to developing the community and its goal is to see all children being able to go to primary school.
Both Busitema and Lunyo ADP were established in 2006. Both areas have taken great measures in tackling HIV/AIDS but it is still a big challenge for the community as well as access to safe, clean water.
