Tanzania

Tanzania is probably best known for Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti National Park. Many are not aware that Tanzania is one of the world’s poorest countries whose economy is largely based on agriculture.

World Vision has been active in the Dodoma district since 1991 and World Vision Ireland has three area development programmes in this region and a further one in the more northerly region of Tabora. With life expectancy at 52 years of age and many children dying under the age of five, World Vision is working hard with the communities to improve healthcare

Educating children is key to long-term development in the area. But World Vision Ireland is also working with adults providing sewing machines and honey production materials to get start-up businesses off the ground.
